PS2 Modification
Although the Sony Playstation 2 is currently one of the most feature-rich and advanced gaming consoles on the market, there's always room for improvement, extra goodies and some "features" you would rather get rid of :-P.
One of these "features" is Sony's advanced copy protection. Playstation 2 games are usually very expensive (60+ Euro's)... and you know how kids are... you better make some "backups" before they damage your originals ;-). But the copy protection prevents you from playing those backups and that's a problem that can easily be fixed with a modchip.
Of course there are many other cool things you can do with your PS2, such as:
- Online gaming.
- Running Linux (USB keyboard, mouse and a hard drive needed).
- Booting games from a built-in hard drive.
- Play old console games (i.e. SNES and Genesis) with an emulator.
- Watch DivX movies and listen to mp3 music on your TV / HiFi set.
Most of these extra goodies require special software and of course a modchip to be able to run them.
